SPECTOR360 blocking internet access for computers, sgvrfy32.exe

hey guys
the email archiving company that we use, uses a program called spector360, (by spector soft) to capture all webmail and IM traffic on the computer
it is considered a virus, and although when added to our exception list on our managed antivirus server, it seems to block internet access . the specific file that is blocking the internet access is SGVRFY32.EXE
when this process is ended, it autmatically restarts, but the users are able to get on the web, same goes for restarting the computer
has anyone had any experience with this in the past? i want to make sure that the antivirus program we are using isnt blocking this, considering we have all the files and "risk threats" added as exceptions on our server. any ideas on how we can start trouble shooting this? we are starting to think that the installation was bad, but possible that Norton is blocking the program from using the internet, without actually notifying, logging or quarantining it?
any ideas? totally lost.
