I am a blackberry user who is considering switching to the iphone 4, but i love the way I can handle "unknown or private calls".

Is there an app that will forward them to my voice mail or block them all together?

I don't want to call AT&T to try to block that way,

thanks

The iPhone itself provides no tool to treat "unknown" or "blocked caller ID" calls differently from any others, unfortunately.  You'd have to use ATT's call screening to refuse such calls, or force the caller to unblock their caller ID or otherwise identify themselves in order to permit the call to go through.

so I am guessing there is no app that can control your incoming calls in this way?
That's correct. At least for the moment (new Apps created to take advantage of the iOS 4's multitasking might change this), there are no apps that could do this.  Because, in essence, any app that did this would have to be running all the time, in order to "intercept" calls that would otherwise be handled by the phone's native call-handling capability.  Existing apps, at least up until now, have their operation suspended by the operating system when a call comes in.

ohhhhh, thank, on a side note, would using Google Talk achieve this?  Can I use it with the iPhone?
I don't use Google Talk, but If Google talk can forward your calls to a cel phone number, you could provide your Google talk phone number to your callers, and have Google Talk forward incoming calls to your iPhone's number.  You could then customize your settings in Google Talk to screen out unidentified calls, if Google Talk provides that capability.
