Printing via a Remote Desktop Connection

In our office 1 person has a windows 7 x64 laptop.  they RDP to a xp 32 bit machine.  they want to be able to print remotely on their laptop when out of the office.

how can I get printing to work from the xp terminal to the windows 7 laptop?

They have to attach/include the printer as a local shared resource to the RDP session.
The problem is that the 32bit driver needs to be added on the laptop under the sharing tab and additional drives.  Alternatively, you need to add the printer drivers on the terminal server if the user loging  in does not have driver install rights.
Make sure the Printer tick in local resource tab. (See the snap)

yes, i know about the printer selection box.  i have it checked.  some printers show up, like the microsoft xps writer and a pdf printer, but the HP printer I need doesn't......

You have to ask the administrator on the terminal server to install the drivers for your HP printer.
Add Additional drivers to printer. I suspect the the drivers you have for win 7 doesn't support with Remote session printer.

I thought I had to do this, but couldn't get the driver installed on the laptop.  I finally got the drivers installed on the terminal server and it worked that way.
