Am running Windows XP SP3 (32-bit) on an Intel Core2Quad Q8400 machine with 4GB RAM, 120GB hard drive (90GB free). Desktop is in a Windows Server 2003 environment. Machine itself is less than 1 year old. Have run Malwarebytes without error, Symantec EndPoint is installed and updated as well, and I ran CCleaner (registry and file cleanups).
Performance has declined sharply to the point where boot times can exceed 10 minutes before usage, and opening files in Word, Excel, Outlook, etc can be very slow or unresponsive. Desktop is a typical workstation running MS Office, Internet Explorer primarily.
Have run Perfmon and frequently in the System Monitor it is showing the Avg. Disk Queue Length being near 100 and the Pages/Sec near 1. Both are fairly alarming to me. Problems are sporadic and do not occur every day. Is for a high level Exec, so speedy help is appreciated.
