How to recover a corrupt 2007 Outlook pst file
I renamed a pst file on our server. I didn't make sure that Outlook was closed. I went to rename the pst and it corrupted the file. How can I get this to read as a .pst file again.

You should not be storing .PST files on the server as this can cause corruption. They should be stored on the computer of the person needing access to the file. You should be able to use the pst repair tool to fixup the file, then take it off the server permanently.

The pst was closed in the folder list. But read that you should close Outlook to ensure it is not hanging. That I know was my mistake. Live and learn. thanks! Wonko the Sane and I will let you know if this fixes my issue.
Hi, mwyan06:
You can use scanpst to scan your corrupt PST file and fix it. It is a free tool. You can get more detailed information about it at http://www.slipstick.com/problems/scanpst.asp
If the free tool cannot work, then you can try the commercial tools. There are a lot of them. And the best one is Advanced Outlook Repair at http://www.datanumen.com/aor/ , though it is also the most expensive one, I think.
Hope this helps!
