Are Conditional Email Signatures Possible in Mac Mail?

I have a client using Mac Mail on a MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard 10.6. She has 2 different email signatures. Is there a way to make Mac Mail automatically use Signature A when composing a brand new email and then use Signature B whenever the email is a response to another email?

I seem to remember that Mac Mail has a way to implement different email signatures depending on context, but right now I can't seem to find it.

You can assign different signatures to different accounts; when you reply to a message, Mail will automatically select the account that the original message was sent To, and use the associated signature.

I suppose that your client only has one account (and one email address).  This makes multiple accounts challenging.

However, if you can use multiple accounts, but you only want one to be available for sending, then you can be a bit tricky.

For example, all my mail goes to gmail.  However, I like to send using different addresses, such as me@company.com, me@gmail.com, etc.    You can set up multiple From addresses on one account by listing them separated by commas in the account email address box (in Mail preferences).  However, this doesn't select the signature automatically.

You need to set up one account as me@gmail.com, and another as me@company.com.  Since these both fetch from gmail, you can disable one account (by taking it offline) and you will still be able to send.  And the auto reply signature selection will work.

But if you are only have one email address, this might not be possible.

Thanks for that link. Unfortunately, this is on an Exchange mail account, so as per the note on their website, SigPro won't work in this case.

Ah, yet another reason to abandon Exchange.
