Will it be local (i.e. LAN) or are there some that will be remote (branch offices via WAN)? THere are WYSE terminals and Pano boxes (http://www.panologic.com/), both of which are pretty good. I have a co-worker spec'ing & testing some out right now. We would've gone with the Plano boxes but they aren't conducive to environments with WAN traffic (i.e. branch offices).

Thanks a lot. I will definitely used Windows, but do you know which one CE, XPe or Embeded is working the best with VMware View?

There is no Windows on the client...the OS is on the VM. You can use standard XP. View *pushes* out the 'image' to the client. Pretty cool stuff! :)

Okay, but when you view Wyse website, sick7six gave, it shows the Thin Client with different OS, Linux, Windows, etc. What does that mean?

Thanks bunch.

Well, you can use an OS on the client itself, but why do so? In View, you create VMs then push them out to the thin clients. It's really a matter of choice for your org. I recommend downloading and trying out View, then make the determination how you wan to implement it.

I have running View client for testing purpose on Fat PC . in View, I can only assign VM based upon user's group. I never used Thin Client. In thin client environment, without OS, how does machine know which VM server to logon? Do I have to install View Client on the Thin client machine?

thanks bunch

You said Push them Out to the thin clients. That's exactly what I want to do. But don't know how to do that yet? Can you push out based upon Client location, i.e. IP address?

Well, the technicalities are really beyond the scope of this post "danyangz"...since multiple questions in a single post is not allowed on EE (see: http://www.experts-exchange.com/help.jsp#hs=23&hi=23), but I'd be more than happy to continue this in a different thread. I will confess up front, I'm not a guru on View (vSphere yes, but not VDI/View), but know enough to get me in trouble :)  My co-worker is the one who's really in charge of that project (yeah, I passed it off to him). But, I can share some more in a different post if you'd like?

No...it's ok; not many people are aware. Just close this question and assign points as you deem appropriate, then open another post with your questions.
