There is about 20 gig of website backup which I downloaded twice, it was found to be corrupt when extracting on Windows using a few utilities. I am now told to extract it on my UNIX web server using SSH. Does anyone know what commands I should use to extract it directly there?

Once you SSH to the Unix box you can use gzip (if it is installed) pretty much the same way you would use the cli for winzip. Here is a good site:  http://www.computerhope.com/unix/gzip.htm

You need an SSH program.  I prefer PuTTy: http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/download.html

Hi.

You can use WinSCP to access the linux machine and download the file.
http://winscp.net/eng/index.php

Then you can use 7-Zip to unzip in on your windows box.

Hope this helps.
