Reduce Exchange Server 2003 DB Size

Dears
I have exchange 2003 and I have a store with size 150 GB and the defragment is taking a very long time and very slow performance, what I ask for if I create new store (one or more) and moved users from old store to new did the new store will take the same size of old one (150 GB)?

If you only have Exchange 2003 standard then you cannot create more than 1 store.

See my guide here on Exchange Defragmentation: https://www.experts-exchange.com/Software/Server_Software/Email_Servers/Exchange/A_2730-Exchange-Offline-Defrag.html
a database of that size would indicate enterprise edition i believe
that said, yes, you could create a new mailbox store and move the mailboxes

I have exchange 2003 enterprise edition and I want to explain that .edb file is 65 GB and .stm is 95 GB
if you have enterprise edition than why are you worrying about a defrag? Have a read of my article.

>>a database of that size would indicate enterprise edition i believe
Not necessarily.  The physical size of the database is very different from the logical size.
Dear demazter
Not only the size of DB is what I’m worry about I’m worrying about the free space in my HDD, also as I know the offline defragment will reduce the size because I used offline defragment before with 500 MB DB and it became 50 MB.
Let’s assume that my old store contains 500 user and I moved them all to new store did the new DB of the new store will take the same size of old one 150 GB
yes it will take almost the same size... in the new store. you can move to different stores to speed up your back up
time per store.. however HDD size restrictions is not where you will gain..

unless your defrag ...

unfourtunately..
