Windows 7 x64 Will not Collate to any printer

I have several Windows 7 x64 bit computers setup in the office.  I have downloaded all the latest drivers from the manufacturers.  I have installed these printers on each workstation as a local printer via IP port.  Each workstation prints just fine, however I cannot get any of them to collate multiple copies.   I've tried setting the defaults to collate, no go.   No matter what or how I am certain I have the preferences set to collate (i.e. FirstPage SecondPage, FirstPage SecondPage), it still groups the print outs.  (i.e. FirstPage, FirstPage, SecondPage SecondPage and so on)  This is quite a problem on 500 page reports.

Have you run 'Print Management' on these computers and checked the provider for the drivers? I had the same or similar problem and noted that the provider was Microsoft rather than Canon or HP. So I right clicked on the driver and selected to Remove Driver package. Then re-installed the vendor drivers.

Thank you for the tip, I can certainly use the Print Management for our printers, looks like a nice handy tool.

However, the print drivers installed ARE from the vendors and not from Microsoft.  I also looked to Microsoft for this fix, and their print drivers do the same thing.

What is the printer? Have you tried the Universal Print drivers? (assuming HP). Maybe you will have to update the eprom or software version on the printer (using jetdirect if HP)

I have a Dell 5310dn printer,  A HP 4300dn printer, A Color HP 5550dn printer.

I have had issues with Dell drivers in the past, but the fact that the same thing is happening with the HP drivers is perplexing.  I have to look at the operating system in this instance.

All have the latest Firmware updates.

I have alternated the print drivers with actual PCL 5, or PCL 6 and Universal.  Both have the same results.  Will not collate properly.   Granted we have a work around that we can just send the print job multiple times, but  I sure would like to get it working properly.

Have you tried Postscript?

Yes, that does the same also.  Prints fine but, Does not collate.   I don't have this problem with the Windows 7 32 bit drivers.  Those print and collate just fine.  Just the 64 bit ones.
After further testing, the printers print fine from Microsoft office, and pdf's.   We have determined this problem to be specific to one type of software.  I am currently working with the software vendor for a resolution.

Thank you for your input.
