dry clicks: some links not working in Outlook 2007

Since our upgrade from office 2003 to office 2007, certain hyperlinks in email do not work.  No errors occur, the links simply do not function despite the cursor:hand on hover-over.

In the below, the link, actually authenticates to our internal server which then forwards to a external collaborative sales vendor site (think sharepoint meets BI, CRM and eye-candy)

href="http://my-server.corp.company.com?returnurl=%7re%2fdocument%2fdocument.aspx%3fid%39d1269a4046%25e2d6view%3d&targetresource=/prod/login.aspx?returnurl=%7e%2fdocument%2fdocument.aspx%3fid%3d11a263046%2526view%3d"><span
  style='font-size:13.0pt'>international winners case study</span></a>

It works fine if a user has Outlook 2003 or webmail.  If the user has outlook 2007,  the links simply do not function in the client (dry clicks - no errors)

Ideas?  Other links in mail are fine.
