I have server which has Visual Studio 2005 Premier Partner Edition installed on it. I mostly use this to create SSIS packages.

I now need to create a vb.net project, I need to install this on the server.

Would installing a standar version of Visual Studio 2005 have any impact on the existing Visual studio 2005. The server has BIDS  installed on it.

The PPE is a minimal install of Visual Studio 2005 - in essence just the IDE shell and debugger.  When you install Visual Studio 2005 Standard, it will install the additional bits required to make a full-featured installation.  You will not be able to change the install path when you run the Visual Studio 2005 installer, as it will add to the existing installation.

The end result will be an installation of Visual Studio that can be used to develop in VB.NET as well as SSIS packages.
