Hey EE,

I have a working TMG server on my test environment and its works great and I read all the new features on the SP1 and interested on installing it but I failed to do that and I tried all possible solution on the below link but no luck with the below error.

MY TMG is evaluation version (TechNet plus). Is there are any restrictions on installing SP1 on evaluation versions?

Regards,

There is a particular way this has to be done - lets check the basics.

Is the full version?
Did you download and save the file on the FTMG Server?
Did you right-click the downloaded file and select the Copy as Path option?
Did you run the Command prompt by right-clicking it and selecting the Run as Administrator option?

The service pack gets slip-streamed into the installation - it does not run in the same way as most other service packs do and MUST be done using elevated permissions as per the release notes.

Hi Keith,

I've saved the file on the server and followe all the steps mentioned on the below link but the same error appeared:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff717843.aspx

So I've downloaded the TMG final version and then tried to install the service pack using the same steps and you will be surprised when you know that service pack has been installed without any problems.

The problem is now solved but I need to know the main reason for that as its my first time to face a problems on installing any updates on an evaluated version of any Microsoft Products.

Appreciate your help.

This has now been reported by another source as well so looks like it may be a bug (or by design).

As previously expected , I have upgraded the evaluation version of TMG2010 Ent. Edition by installing the full released version on the current server and then tried to install the Service Pack and it does work :-)
