Hi,

In short DNSBL is a database of IP address who are suspected as Spammers.

DNSBL are used with Mail server configuration to reduce the spam, so that whenever a new mail is received by ur mail server is checked against the Black List and if it is listed there in DNSBL then the action (Drop,Reject etc.) is taken as the configuration of your mail server.

Configuration varies depending upon the MTA used in your Mail Server.

is it necessary to use this program with bind?

Hi,

No, you dont need to update your bind dns records. Even if you wish to use DNSBL you only need to add their dns IP's in your mail server configuration file.
