Does anyone know of a SAS HBA that is either PCIe 1x or PCI?

All the PCIe ones I can find are 4x or 8x.

I need it for an LTO4 tape drive.

Thanks.

You should be able to put a x1 in a x4 slot and run that way unless it's a physical slot size problem. Most x1 slots are long enough to take an x4 card.

Thanks Andy - unfortunately I have the reverse problem.

The two computers I need the cards for only have 1x slots - which won't accept the 4x or 8x HBA cards available.

BTW, I think the x1 only supports 250mb/s, I don't think there are any x1 SAS cards out there as x4 and x8 are standard to get at least 300mb/s throughput

Can you use a PCI-X HBA e.g. LSISAS3801X ? Should work OK in a PCI slot with the same caveat as before that it has to physically fit and not foul and system board components with the overhanging unused part of the connector.

Turns out that you can stick a 4x PCI-e card in the 16x graphics slot and the onboard graphics still works.  Even though the manual says it won't.

Problem solved.  Thanks
