registering a dll in windows 7 using regsvr32

I am having the same problem. I tried the suggestion above but still gettin the error. I am running windows 7 Professional. This is a VM. I am a local admin and a domain admin.

error msg: The module "name.dll" was loaded but the entry-point DllRegisterServer was not found. Make sure that "name.dll" is a valid DLL or OCX file and then try again.

The error message means following: (Source : KB249873)

Regsvr32.exe was unable to find the required entrypoint in the module specified in the command line. This can occur if the entrypoints are not properly exported from the module or if the module is not a .DLL or .OCX file.

In simple term, the DLL you are trying to register is not valid.

operationsbze--You might try System File Checker to restore the missing/corrupt .dll.

and then run regsvr32 .

I am not sure if you you can register a dll on a 'virtual' machine.
Virtual environment has already been created and system loaded.
