Dear Experts,

I want to know how much bandwidth my server is consuming from switch port.

My switch port is 1 gig. I want to know weather it is fully utilizing that 1 gig link , so that i can add another link ,if its fully utilized.

Praveen

Configure SNMP on your switch and get the bandwidth information using an SNMP viewer such as: http://www.paessler.com/prtg/

You can try NetBrain Workstation which has  a lot of cool features. By using this tool, you can get the traffic data visually on a map. You can learn more from here: http://www.netbraintech.com

Your switch vendor may have an SNMP application for you to use to get this information.
Some use the RMON ethernet statistics to get utilization etc.
Worst case you could use the CLI to get port's statistics twice over a known period of time and then do the math to determine the average utilization.
Thanks for the points, glad I could help!
