Dear EE,

Tried searching for trueport.sys in the knowledgebase, but could not find anything. Tried the internet (googled it) and same result. Our debugger is refering to a .sys file that does not exsist?! .... Any ideas? Crashreport has been included:

Do you got any Serial to Ethernet Adapters installed?
if yes, try to remove the adapters an reboot your system

I'm not 100% sure but i dont think that is the case. but i will let you know. What i failed to mention was
that this machine bluescreens when it goes in standby modus. That when it happens.

What the user did have is an:

Usb => Serial adapter

It's not connected anymore but thus still installed. Could that be the problem?
Acronis in Gartner 2019 MQ for datacenter backup

It is an honor to be featured in Gartner 2019 Magic Quadrant for Datacenter Backup and Recovery Solutions. Gartner’s MQ sets a high standard and earning a place on their grid is a great affirmation that Acronis is delivering on our mission to protect all data, apps, and systems.

Yes this could be the problem

Apparantly TruePort redirects serial COM/TTY based traffic over Ethernet to remote IOLAN(s).

So removing the appropriate software (as already stated) should resolve the BSOD.

If it doesn't, see if you can locate a minidump, then post it here.
The dumps are normally located in
c:\windows\minidump\
or  %systemroot%\minidump\

You may need to disable auto restart:
Right click My Computer > Properties > Advanced > Startup and Recovery Settings and uncheck Automatically Restart.

Dear Jonvee

The above part was already from the dump file. If you want i can add it here completely.
No problem. Ive checked the sw list and found;

==> Ultra Serial Port Monitor 2.6.5.2

Might that be the app that is causing this problem? Also, here is the complete dump log;

KERNEL_MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M (1000008e)
This is a very common bugcheck.  Usually the exception address pinpoints
the driver/function that caused the problem.  Always note this address
as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address.
Some common problems are exception code 0x80000003.  This means a hard
coded breakpoint or assertion was hit, but this system was booted
/NODEBUG.  This is not supposed to happen as developers should never have
hardcoded breakpoints in retail code, but ...
If this happens, make sure a debugger gets connected, and the
system is booted /DEBUG.  This will let us see why this breakpoint is
happening.
Arguments:
Arg1: c0000005, The exception code that was not handled
Arg2: b76d9606, The address that the exception occurred at
Arg3: ba32736c, Trap Frame
Arg4: 00000000

Yes sorry, my mistake, i appreciate now that the earlier extract was from the minidump.

So removing the Usb Serial adapter should hopefully resolve the problem.

If not, you could try uninstalling the Ultra Serial Port Monitor, then rebooting.
If then ok, you may want to update from here>

Indeed, the ultra serial port monitor was the firtst thing ive asked the user to remove
from his nootebook. But i did not solve the problem. Funny thing is, user communicated
that this seems to only happen when his external screen is used. When he uses the laptop
screen excl. and wants to go in standby the machine is not bsod'ing anymore...... Weird
Still investigating it further myself. But till now all comments have been helpfull.

Many thanks. Will come back on this issue.

Wondering if the User has changed anything on, or to, his externel screen (presume you could mean monitor?).

Has he tried a different monitor?

Has he tried connecting the second monitor, with the computer off, then reboot to let Windows see the 2nd monitor?

Or possibly tried a Windows update on the monitor's driver(if any).

If still no good you could see if there's a fresh minidump we could analyse.

To be honnest. It's absolutely not clear what the monitor has to do with this all of a sudden.

In the meantime, big thanks for all info and effords.
