Customising Scope for Sharepoint MOSS 2007 Search Box Webpart

In the standard Search Box webpart in Sharepoint 2007, I'd like my search box to only search the current list as its scope. If you opt for a scope dropdown in addition to the search text box, this is possible, but I'd prefer if the scope function was hidden. Is it possible to limit the standard search box without having the scope box?

Thank you
