Decommissioning a Domain Controller

Hi all,

I need to decommissiona a dead Domain Controller (Windows 2003). Are there any microsoft articles or so which i can follow?

If the DC is no longer online, you can follow this guide -

You need to make sure the dead DC isn't hosting any FSMO roles. If so then you need to seize them:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/255504.

Note that you might not realize right away that a FSMO role is missing.

But Lee has the right idea, delete the DC from AD and then clean up the metadata from the AD database.
