DFSR deleting folder and files

I have a parent and child domain, I have DFS setup at both sites with  mesh replication.  This morning I come in and see that about 75% of my files and folders are gone, they are all in the conflicts and deleted folders, what is weird is that the data on the server in the far side (child domain) is never live, its just a backup that we have stored at that site in case something like this happened, so there should have not been a situation where the data on the receiving side would have been  changed to cause a conflict.  How can I diagnose the problem to stop it from happening and how can I restore all of the files from the conflicts and deleted directory, as all of these have now been morphed into new file/folder names.

I'm getting the 4412 event ID
The DFS Replication service detected that a file was changed on multiple servers. A conflict resolution algorithm was used to determine the winning file. The losing file was moved to the Conflict and Deleted folder.

Installed SEPM on file server and that time stamped all of my files, thus, replicating all of the files in the wrong direction, conflicts and deleted folder got past the size threshold specified and would flush files to make room for new files that were being dumped in, a real mess.  No fix, had to restore from backup and scrap old dfs config, rebuild DFS schema and re-establish replication between the two nodes.
