Hi all,

I am wanting to move WDS between servers. It is currently running in Mixed mode on a 2003 server. I am currently converting my legacy images to wim files. Once this is done I want to move WDS to a new server running 2008 R2 ! Moving over all the images and settings. Whats is the best way to do this??

Many thanks

Brian

I frequently move my WIM files from a 2003 WDS server to 2008 WDS serer and back.  You just need to copy the win files from the RemoteInstall\Images folder.
The boot folder I leave at default.  So just configure the new 2008 R2 server, then just copy the images folder from the 2003 server.

Okay, so you run 2 wds servers in your domain? Does that not cause pxe issues with dhcp?

They are actually in separate networks.  The 2003 instance is in my lab and 2008 is in production, so DHCP isn't an issue.
You should also take a look at MDT 2010.  I use WDS to boot my MDT images.  If you are converting your to WIMS anyhow, using MDT will make your life so much easier not having to mess around with drivers and applications.
