Exchange 2007 certificate renewal issue

I created a csr for digicert and they issued me the certificate.  I had no issue importing the new cert however, the cert issued was incorrect.  I had digi recreate and reissue the cert, but now I cannot install it.  I get the following error:

"cannot import as there already is a certificate with a thumbprint of B6....."

I tried to remove that certificate and received this error:

"the internal transport certificate cannot be removed because that would cause the Microsoft Exchange Tranport services to stop.  To replace the internal transport certificate, create a new certificate..."

How do I replace the current cert that was just installed with the new one???

Hi,

Change the FQDN on the receive connector. Change it to either server or null so it is blank. Then restart transport services and attempt to change the certificate again.

Hope this helps,
Shree

I recreated the CSR and was issued a new certificate and that overwrote the current without issue.
