Print Driver Migration

stressedout2004 used Ask the Experts™
I have recently used PrintMigrator 3.1 to backup and restore 40 printers in a Microsoft 2003 x32 Standard Server environment.  On occasion have been tasked with installing new servers, with this said, print migrator has saved me hours of work to have identical printer configurations across all  32 bit servers.

My latest challenge requires moving to Windows Server Standard 2003 x64 edition.  What is my best course action to deply all 40 printers to 11 Windows Server Standard 2003 x64 edition servers?

Is their a free utility or paid for utility?   Thanks

It is not as simple as you think. Since your are migrating to 64-bit, you need new drivers for every printer. The other consideration is that if you will be using this print server for both 32-bit and 64-bit clients, you need both drivers installed. So, you would need to do all this work, then you could use the migration tool from that server to the other 11 servers. If you are going to 2008 R2, then there has been a previous post that contains all of the information for this:

I am not going to migrate to Server 2008 Solution at this time.  I am hoping to install printers one time around on one server and then use the migration tool to restore to the remaing servers.  With this said, can you suggest a software migration tool that I can use on a server 2003 64 bit infrastructure?

The printer migration tool is still the best tool, you just can't migrate 32-bit drivers to 64-bit systems. Once you get the first server configured, you can use the same Printer Migration Tool 3.1 to migrate. That is the best option.
