SQL/SSRS 2005 -> where case

Last Modified: 2012-05-09
I'm trying to do a where clause for "everything else" aka other but am having problems.  The first bolded section below works, but doesn't take into account NULL values. I'd like it to be something like in the code area (if this makes sense)...

Any suggestions?

select count(*)
from mpno M
join serverdata S on m.ServerName = S.ServerName
where ServerManagementGroup like
  when 'Other' then 'Unkn%'
  else @SMG end

for what its worth, here is how I grab @SMG:
select distinct
when ServerManagementGroup is null then 'Other'
when ServerManagementGroup like 'Unkn%' then 'Other'
  else ServerManagementGroup
 end as SMG

select count(*)
from mpno M
join serverdata S on m.ServerName = S.ServerName
  when 'Other' then
where ServerManagementGroup like 'Unkn%' or ServerManagementGroup is null
    where ServerManagementGroup = @SMG
