Arcserve error : E3719 :Uanable to write to meda

Dear Experts,

I am using arcserve 11.5 SP4 (trial version)
Tape drive :internal HP lto 3

LTO stops writing after 25-30 gb . It goes inh Hung state for 5-10 min & throws Hardware error

E3719 :Uanable to write to meda "media label" "serial no" , EC = Hardware error
E6300 : Window NT scsi port error

I tested the drive with HP l&tt : conncetivity test , device self test  , device analysis ...all completed succesfully.

I am suspecting its tape drive issue , tape drive is not writing in reverse direction of the tape.

pls help/suugest , where could be the issue.

regards

It looks like the place to start might be checking to see if you have current SCSI drivers, and device drivers.

Is the tape drive the only device on that device channel?

hi all,
HI all,
I have changed the tape drive from lto 3 to lto 4 & tried the backup but again it got failed with the same error.
I tried taking the backup of one of the client machine, it completed successfully. The problem is coming while taking the backup of one of the local hard drive (G drive). I have one more server on which arcserve is installed, I tried taking the backup of that G drive & I am able to take the backup..there is no error & Backup  is running fine on this machine.
Pls suggest where could be the issue….

Regards
dear all,

May i request the experts for there inputs plss....

regards
When you took the backup of the client machine and the second server I assume you performed the backup with the tape drive still connected to the original server.  So presumably it's using the same drivers, and installation of Arcserver.  (Confirm?)

Although, it is unclear from your message from yesterday -- You were able to successfully backup the G drive which had been giving you troubles.  Is that if you back it up to a (tape) device on a different server?

On the server which is having the difficulty - is the G: drive on the same SCSI channel as Tape drive?

(Was a new device driver for the LTO 4 installed when the drive was changed, or was it able to use the existing driver?  If it installed a new driver, did you use the disk that came with the device, or download the latest driver from the vendor's website?)

If I understand that correctly, I would try checking for updated drivers for the SCSI controller and updated driver for the LTO drive.  (And if the hard drive is using the same channel as the drive, try moving it to a different channel first, if you can.)
