Samba Server Authenticating to a Windows 2003 LDAP server

TAS-IT asked
Last Modified: 2013-11-15
Hi Everyone,
I setup Ubuntu 10.04 with samba server running.  I want to have all the Windows user,s home directory to be in the samba server. Instead of me created samba accounts for all the windows users, would like the samba to authenticate the users from the Windows LDAP.  I understand I still need to manually create the home directory folder for each user which i don,t mind doing, but i like to find out if it is possible to authenticate through LDAP when users access their file from the samba server.
Is this a normal practice since the samba is a faster file server than windows?
