Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V, can i load my management software on it?
I just saw that they have a edition for Hyper-V named Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V. Anyone know if I should be able to install my management software on this edition:
Dell Open Manager
&
Adaptech Storage Software
What about Core? If not then do I need to use the STD edition to have the ability to install this software?

I don't think that you can install those on Hyper-v or core version as per my knowledge

For Hyper-V, I would recommend the Hyper-V Role, there has been no significant performance differences in either of them, only Hyper-V Role is very easier to manage as you have the gui for common tasks and you can then incorporate your command line fun if you want to do automation with scripts etc.
Depending on the number of VMs you are planning to run, different versions offer different number of VMs
Windows 2008 Standard host - one Windows 2008 Standard guests
Windows 2008 Enterprise host - four Windows 2008 Enteprise guests
Windows 2008 DataCenter host - unlimited number of Windows 2008 guests
(limited by physical characteristics of the host computer).
