Mail being delayed

OK, all of a sudden I am getting bounce back messages that delivery has been delayed. Then it fails. This is from the big 4 (AOL, AT&T - Bellsouth, Comcast and Charter). What I found is that I was broadcasting my local server name servername.local, and not mail.domain.com. I have changed this entry in the properties of the SMTP connector. However mail is still being delayed. This has been going on for about 10 days now. Spoe with ISP and the PTR record is correct,

can you track the message to see where it is stopping , from where are you getting the delay message usually this should not have to do with your MX record but the other parity (the one who should receive email) MX record, so tracking the message and reading details like sender address should help you to see where it is stopping
