Arcserve 11.5 Destination Error
Hello Guys,
We have Exchange 2003 and Arcserve 11.5 installed on the same physical box. We are trying to restore the First Storage Group - Mailbox Store to a different Destination location.
However, when we manually change the Destination location it gives us an error of:
Invalid destination path Specified. Please make a selection of enter a valid path for Destination. e.g., \\MACHINE\dbaexchis
Can anyone please advise?
Cheers,
Goraek

hi,
can you please elaborate on what you mean by alternate destination. because by default when you try to recover a exchange 2003 without the overwrite option it will try to create a RSG and restore the same to that location.
if you do not have sufficent disk space you can mention alternate disk as the location for restore. You can also set the temp location to alternate disk as by default the restore tries to restore to C: drive.
post back if you have any further issues. You cannot restore to a alternate machine unless Exchange is not installed on that machine.

hi bhanukir7,
thanks for the reply.
when i meant alternative destination - meaning we select where the restore is pointing to, such as instead of going to the default location, we want the restore point going to \\server\restore. we tried to restore this on a different server and yes we checked theres enough space but for some reason it wouldnt allow us to restore.
everytime when we try to restore, it pops up with an error message of:
Invalid destination path Specified. Please make a selection of enter a valid path for Destination. e.g., \\MACHINE\dbaexchis
do you know what it is, or what we need to do to resolve this?

hi
when you say you are trying to restore to alternate server, is that running exchange 2003 on that machine and do you have the arcserve exchange installed. if the answer is no for both, then you can perform the restore. if the answer is no for the agent then install the agent and perform a restore. Also ensure that the user account used for restore is part of exchange administrators for that exchange server.

thanks...
also just to clarify...
the only way to perform the restore is:
1. enough disk space
2. agent installed on server and desktop
3. must be on non exchange box and arcserve exchange
4. service account with administrative privileges

ahhh... that's probably the reason why we couldnt perform a restore.
what do we need to do to install exchange services on a non exchange server? install arcserve exchange agent?
