View folder location in a page viewer webpart wss 3.0 https

I have a wss 3.0 sharepoint site setup and it is using https. I'm trying to use the page viewer webpart to link to a folder on our network but it isn't working. I made sure that the sever with the shared folder on it has the web service running. I'm able to type in the path \\server\share and click on the (test link) icon, and bam the folder pops up in a new window. then I click apply and ok to save out. I get a warning saying some of the webpage will not be delivered ussing secure https... I click yes to continue. then I get a box where the webpart should be that says Navigation to the wbpage was canceled. Not sure why it is not working. Any help would be appreciated.

Far as I know you can't use pageviewer to open a UNC path.  you will need a third party web part to do this.

For using mapped/mounted folders, see: https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/23207545/Trying-to-use-'Folder'-option-in-'Page-Viewer-Web-Part'.html

I have rights to the folder, i can browse to the unc path so i know it's not that. Do I have to add the file server to the trusted sites somehow?

also, i hope you don't expect this to be an interactive thing.  it will display the folders in your share, but when you click on one it will open a win explorer window.
