Can I prove that I never opened a file from my personal yahoo email account if i accessed the yahoo account on my own computer?

No, not really.  It depends on what level of 'proof' you require, and it sounds like 'your word' won't suffice.

You can create doubt -- if someone else had access to your account, then it's plausible.  However, unless you had all access to your account monitored, etc -- you might be able to prove it.

So, for most part -- you're out of luck.

probably can see my other posts to you in your three qns in the digital forensic area. It needs efforts but suggest to engage professional instead to have third party view (to further complicate).

The mail client does not report to the host whether or not the user read the message. (unlelss message is set up for this)

However, there is a ray of hope. The mail server can probably report when the mail was sent to you and whether or not it was deleted.

When you say your own computer, do you mean your work computer access your personal email or do you mean your home computer accessing your home email?

Let me clarify:

situation #1 - Your employer has a policy of no personal email, and they think you opened your yahoo mail.  If you visited the site (in most states in the US) it is enough to assume that you were using your personal mail, and you can be terminated. (assuming your employer uses a 1 to 1 login process, where you have your own account and are responsible for the actions performed under its session.)

Situation #2 – Your employer sends you a notice or email to your home (to comply with a memo) you state you never received it and they say you did (say via a read receipt etc), all you have to do is introduce doubt, if it’s your home computer they can’t search it, and all you have to say it’s my account was breached because of weak password and who knows what was deleted or altered etc.

A bit more info would be nice before we all speculate as to what exactly your trying to accomplish.
