If the jQuery library is present, I want to add a function using jQuery when the document is ready.

How can I test if jQuery is present?  My code does NOT work because other libraries also use $ so my code returns false positives.

if($)
$(document).ready(
  function(){$(function() {
    alert('jQuery is present and the webpage is ready.');
  });
});
