Exchange 2007

In looking through the ADSI Edit I found two attributes under CN=Exchange System Object, CN=SystemMailbox
The attributes are homeMDB and homeMTA.  The value of both points to our Exchange Server 2000 that has be removed from the system.

homeMTA
CN=Microsoft MTA,CN=Old_Server,CN=Servers,CN=First Administrative Group,CN=Administrative Groups,CN=XXXX,CN=Microsoft Exchange,CN=Services,CN=Configuration,DC=domain,DC=com

homeMDB
CN=Mailbox Store (Old_Server2),CN=First Storage Group,CN=InformationStore,CN=Old_Server,CN=Servers,CN=First Administrative Group,CN=Administrative Groups,CN=XXXX,CN=Microsoft Exchange,CN=Services,CN=Configuration,DC=domain,DC=com

What is the purpose of these Attibutes.

HomeMTA attribute can be cleared set to not set.
HomeMDB attribute fill it with the DN value of the Database in First Storage Group in the Exchange 2007

how long ago did you upgrade to 2007? i.e. did you run the AD conversion utility?
Or did you upgrade ages ago to 2003 and then 2007 and this is just carry over attributes.

Thanks for the responces.

We upgraded from 2000 to 2003 to 2007.  The upgrade was done before I arrived here.  By the time I got here the older systems were gone.  I understand after they upgraded to 2007 the entire 2003 system failed and could not be brought back on line.  At the time they just removed the boxes.
