How do I get this SATA controller card to boot my SATA DVD-RW drive?
The 6 SATA slots on the motherboard are not functional. I was told that a SATA controller card would allow me to connect the SATA hard drive and the SATA DVD-RW drive.
The representative recommended that I purchase the SD-SA2PEX-2IR SATA controller card to connect these two drives. I did so and installed it according to instructions.
I observed that the BIOS and the controller card BIOS could see both the SATA HDD and the SATA DVD-RW drives. However, I was unable to boot from the SATA DVD-RW drive. I inserted known good bootable CDs and DVDs into the drive and simply get a blinking cursor.
I reported this to the store technician, and he informed me that the SATA DVD-RW drive might be faulty. I purchased a brand new SATA DVD-RW drive, and the issue still persists. I even disconnected the SATA HDD from the controller card and left the SATA DVD-RW drive connected, and I still just get a blinking cursor when attempting to boot from the SATA DVD-RW drive.
I am able to boot from the SATA HDD whether the SATA DVD-RW drive is connected or not.
I would like to know what I must do or what product I need in order to get the system to boot from the SATA DVD-RW through this controller card.

Yes, the DVD drive does show up in the boot order list in both the PC BIOS and the BIOS on the controller card. I can't boot into Windows because I'm trying to load Windows 7 on a brand new SATA HDD...so, I can't load drivers. The DVD drive is brand new. It also works fine in another PC.

Got SATA controller card with non-RAID BIOS...worked perfectly! Thanks!
Sorry I don't have a quick answer, but I think everyone would like some more info too first. It might make something come to light.
