Hal.dll missing or corrupt
I have a Dell Poweredge 2950. It is runming Windows 2003 Enterprise and Exchange
Standard 2003. Today I could not open the event viewer it said the mmc was missing.
I decided to reboot the server and no it won't start, I get the Hal.dll is missing or corrupt.
The serves has a SAS raid card Perc6i - integrated when I try to do an in place repair, it says
that it can't find the Hard Drive. This is my Mail Server so I don't wan't to completely re-install.
When I press F6 to install 3rd party drivers it says that it cannot find a floppy drive but this server does not have a floppy drive.

This server has no Floppy drive.

I have verified that the raid is okay by going through the set-up on boot.

Unfortunately the USB floppy helped to an extent, Windows was so damaged that I had to re-install as the floppy would work to install the Raid drivers but upon the repair when asked for the Raid driver again, the floppy drive stopped working and the setup would freeze, USB drivers were not recognized.
Sorry to hear about the Windows re-install failure.... sometimes Windows can get really broken... It's just one of those things

no kidding, as a rule always try to repair first but sometimes SH*T happens.....
Once you have verified that, you will need a USB floppy drive to be able to load your RAID drivers (F6 option during Windows setup). You will not be able to install Windows to your RAIDed drive otherwise.
Once you have gotten through all that you should be in a better state-of-mind. Hopefully your RAID set is Ok, and Windows allows you to perform a repair installation.
You may need to consider what alternatives you have (ie. other servers) as this server or the RAID controller may need to be replaced.
Hope this helps....
