How do I calculate the slope of a line?

Now that I've got your interest...I want to determine and then isolate the middle linear part of this sigmoid function graph to determine the slope of the isolated middle line.

heheh...you skipped the first part though.  how do i determine the part of the sigmoid that is linear with the same slope?  where does it start..where does it end...this middle part?  once i've determined that i can apply the formula for slope.
more to the point...which 2 points on the graph are you gong to pick in order to determine the slope of the middle part of the sigmoid graph?

by eyeballing it..it looks like it's somewhere around (-1.6,0.25) and (1.6,0.75)...but how can i know with any certainty?
