Change Office 2010 license key from MAK to KMS?
Never having yet dealt with KMS for Windows, I was a bit confused initially about what it was and how it worked when I was confronted with it as an option when upgrading a school to Office 2010. We created an auto install script to install the Office 2010 upgrade on over 100 computers and because we didn't at the time understand KMS we configured the script to use the MAK key. Later we figured out KMS and used it for the office computers and it worked like a charm. Problem now is that we have well over 100 computers loaded with Office 2010 using the MAK key that all need activation. That wouldn't be so much of an issue to have the first user to open an Office app activate it, except that these users do not have admin rights which are needed to activate Office. So, I'm wondering if there is a way to change the product key from MAK to KMS? Found the same basic question on a Technet forum but it didn't have an answer yet.
you can only delete the registry key
then when they open the application it'll ask them for the key
regedit
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWAR E\Microsof t\Office
your product \ registration
DigitalProductID
• ProductID

Well that didn't work. It didn't ask for the key when I reopened Word - just the same activation screen. In fact, I wanted to see if it would activate missing that registry key and it did.
This will definitely help for your problem.
First of all uninstall ms office, and delete office's folder from "program folder" then open registry (go to run type regedt32 and enter. and delete the office enter located at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Softwar e\Microsof t\Office" and restart your computer.
after restart install MS-Office with valid license key. hope this will help.
NOTE: PLEASE DON'T FORGET TO MARK AS HELPFUL.

aamsoh - that's not really what I was asking for. I know that if you uninstall and remove all traces of Office that I could reinstall using the KMS key. If I only had a few systems that's what I would've done, but as I mentioned there are well over 100 systems. What I want to know is if there is another way to "re-key" it WITHOUT uninstalling and removing all traces of Office.
