a) You need to Add the Feed to IE first.
on IE 8 - you turn on web-slices gallery (attached screenshot)
Then browse to the feed
www.wordnik.com/word-of-the-day/feed

There is a yellow bar which states - subscribe to this feed.
Click that and add it to IE

IE7 guide here and help on the error message
"outlook cannot download the rss content from because of a problem connecting to the server"
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917125

IE8
http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/2820/ie8_how_to_add_feeds_webslices_to_favorites_bar/

After you set this up, then you use the RSS feed's in Outlook.

Apparently RSS feeds in outlook was configured to pull Feeds from Sharepoint portals.
I am setup right now with Outlook 2003, cant test the outlook end of it.
