you can adjust the settings here, but it's very basic...
http://windows7themes.net/disable-windows-data-execution-prevention-in-windows-7-vista.html

even saying "for windows only", i find that some applications still don't work, so i chose to completely disable it all together:

start > run > cmd (as administrator)
bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOff

then reboot and be done with it.

as the article says, if you have problems booting into windows after that, you can safemode/commandprompt and undo it with this:
bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOn

You can turn off DEP for specific programs. To do so follow this procedure:

   1. Goto Start.
   2. Right click 'Computer'
   3. Select 'Proiperties'
   4. Select 'Advanced System Settings' from the side menu
   5. Click the 'Settings' button the 'Performance' section.
   6. Select the 'Data Execution Prevention' tab.
   7. Click the 'Add' button and select the application you wish to exclude from DEP.

Please note this will only work if you have DEP set to work for all program except those that you specify.
