Sage 2008 SBDDesktop.exe stops working on reconciliation

Hi I have a user who is using Sage 2008 Version 14.0.12.153 and when he tries to reconcile the bank account on a particular company Windows displays the message SBDDesktop.exe has stopped working and windows needs to close the program.

The user has a new PC on W7, never an issue on XP SP3 and the data is accessed from a Share on the server Windows Server 2003.

Your version is not up to date you should be on 14.01.28.0248
go to http://support.sage.co.uk and install these two updates

Sage 50 Accounts 2008 Update 1
V2008 - Sage Accounts ECSL Update

As a precaution you should also install

sbddesktopbuild107.exe

This could be a data error, has a check been run?

If updating does not resolve the issue and there are no errors, then please check that printing to pdf is working
Please check that there are no files with strange symbols in the users favourites folder (this happens when updating to IE8 on some installations)

Another thought

V14 predates Win7 by several years it is quite possible that it does not work on this operating system as a standard install.

I suggest un-installing and reinstalling.  Use a custom location of say C:\Sage to install (anything except program files) this works with quite a few application that will not run under Vista/Win7

Hi, thanks for the info, and apologies for the delay in responding. I will try this tomorrow when I can contact the customer. I believe they have updated to all latest patches after the original post.

Hi the customer decided to go on holiday. Yes he updated everything and we also installed bullzip pdf and now is walking.
