How to select data from SQL in Silverlight 4

Ok, new to Silverlight 4 and I cannot figure out how to get to my data.  I've created a new connection (Data Connection) in my Server Explorer tab and everything checks out.  My question is how to connect to the database in order to verify data, ie. login info, and use in the code.
