SD Card data is not visible! - Windows Mobile

Dear Experts,

I am having HTC P3400 Windows Mobile
http://www.htc.com/in/product/p3400/overview.html

Today I noticed that the data in Memory card is not visible. In Storage Card properties, the used size says that I am using 1.1 GB out of 3.7 GB. So I think the data is still there in Storage Card, eventhough it is not visible through 'File Explorer' or other similar tools.

Previously I faced similar situations like data seems to be encrypted. At that time, I posted a question in Experts-Exchange -
http://www.experts-exchange.com/OS/Microsoft_Operating_Systems/Windows/Windows_Mobile-_PocketPC-_WinCE/Q_24815334.html
Finally I purchased new card. But no use!

Mostly when I eject and insert the Storage Card, data becomes accessible at that time. Now that also not working. Tried reboot mobile also - no use :(

Is there any way to recover the data in Storage Card in this scenario ? Did you face similar situation ?

Any useful suggestion is welcome to have a try.

Thanks
Raj

Hello !

Scan the card using a file recovery software :

Recover to another disk, format the card and try it again in the HTC.

Maybe the HTC corrupts it somehow.

Thanks Sylvain,

I have downloaded the recovery tool from http://www.softperfect.com/ and recovered my files to my Laptop. Then formated SD Card from my Laptop and copied recovered files again to SD Card.

Now my phone is back again!  But I am not sure whether this will happen again. What I have to take care for this not to happen again ?

1. Is it need to format the SD Card from HTC itself for proper functioning ?
2. I connected SD Card to laptop yesterday and copied files. Do you think it may be the cause of this corruption ?
3. Is there any chance of virus ?

Hello !

1. I never worked with a HTC before so I wouldn't know. This information should be in your manual.
2. Have you disconnected the SD card from your laptop correctly using Safely remove hardware ? This prevents data corruption.
3. If you have an antivirus software that is up to date, you may want to do a full scan, it's never a bad idea. I'm pretty sure it's not a virus though. Not the typical virus behavior.

Thanks!

1. I will check the manual
2. I mostly take care to safely remove before taking SD card from Laptop slot. I think I done so.
3. I also think it's not a virus behaviour.

Thanks for your time and support, Sylvain.
