WINDOWS 7 FOLDER TAKES FOREVER TO LIST FILES

OK, love Win7 except for 2 things:  the search is horrible; and, whenever I open a folder with thousands of files in it, it takes minutes to display (slow moving green bar at top of Explorer window).

I was able to fix the useless search with Agent Ransack.  But, how do I get Explorer to just list the files, immediately?  No slowly growing green bar at the top, no searches, no nothing, except listing the files.  Thats all I want.  Anybody got any suggestions?

Just add the corresponding folders to the index (Control Panel > Index Options), and wait for minutes, let's make the dream happen..

Excellent!  Indexing didn't make any difference either way.  But the 2nd URL said to change folder properties to optimize documents, and that did it!  Now my folder opens instantly with no waiting!!
