Open source speech to text app

Hi, I'm trying to find or write an application which will run through an audio file (in wav) file then go through the file, coming up with a text version of the audio. It's a phone call audio file which I'm trying to auto-transcribe hopefully as accurate as possible. I know the origin and the destination so I can log the call and allocate the call details correctly.

Can someone who has experience with this advise on which app (open source or proprietary) which I can integrate with a Ruby on Rails application on a Linux platform? I guess the processing of the audio file can be done via a cron job or something.

Thanks

I don't think there is any viable open source voice recognition program. First, the technology itself is not yet good enough for general speakers. Second, if a voice recognition program has acceptable accuracy, it has huge profitability.

The most accessible and usable voice recognition I know is that of Google Voice. Google implemented exactly what you described for voice mail of Google Voice.

I realized that I wrongly used the term "voice recognition" following the author.
Just to clarify; voice recognition is to identify the speaker. Speech to text conversion is called speech recognition.
