How to repair WD external hard drive that was used for Macintosh Time Machine

I've got a user with a 750g WD external drive (with WD Smartware).

The HDD was used with Mac's Time Machine software and the file partition is now unmountable. The file partition is registering as GPT Protective Partition in Windows Disk Management.

The WD Smartware partition is behaving normally and can be enabled / disabled.

I have tried to nuke the entire drive with tools such as GParted, Partition Magic, etc. The process completes without error, but upon reboot, the partitions are unaffected.

Any advice or has this unit been bricked?

Thanks
