how to flush transaction logs in exchange 2007 using commvault

how do i flush the transaction logs using commvault version 7 and exchage 2007
i have a commvault exchange agent backing up the database and a file agent backing up the whole server but the logs never get deleted
the logs can fill over 3gig a day

just out of curiosity, is VSS Writer service running ?
Can you check that.

Can you restart that service and take a full backup.

no there is only volue shadow copy service running

Can you start that service - set it to automatic and then retry the backup ?

VSS Writer is used by Exchange Aware backup Software to backup exchange.

vss writer is not listed in the services

start > run > cmd

vssadmin list writers
you will see a microsoft exchange writer
check what is the last error state.

when i run that i just get the following output

wait for a few mins - it will list out the writers. It takes sometime to execute it.

just noticed on the commvault exchange database job properties
the use vss option is unchecked

Can you check that and retry the backup job.

I am yet to find a definitive commvault guide to flush logs.
commvault has a separate backup agent to backup Transaction Logs - but that is for SQL server.

Lets try backups with VSS and see what we get.
