Bandwidth Monitoring

What is the best solution for monitoring network bandwidth at my gateway? I need to be able to see what is eating up my bandwidth, hopefully by port or application. My firewall is a Netscreen 25.

I would load a sniffer application (like wireshark www.wireshark.org), plug it into the public side of your firewall, and take a look at the traffic.

Fox

At one of my offices I use a product called websense but it gives me general information limite to the top 20 this or that

PRTG traffic grapher!!

free version allows 10 sensors so you can monitor up to 10 interfaces or policies. it is simple to use and works very nicely with netscreen devices.

You can also use nagios with pnp4nagios plugin to do the same thing. In nagios you would create a service to snmp query the bandwidth on an interface or policy, and pnp4nagios will make nice colorful graphs for you
