SQL Server 2008r2 Workgroup edition and email

We just use SQL Server Express 2008 where we do not have the ability to send email out of T-SQL. Now we want to make some stored procedures for sending emails. Is this possible with the workgroup edition or do we need the standard edition?

Its included in workgroup edition.
