SharePoint 2010 User profile Import could not be started
I have SharePoint 2010 Server based Intranet. I have problem to update AD profile to the SharePoint. I have following error in the event viewer. What to do?

it seems your user profile sync service is already running, wait for a while and check the timer jobs for this service and retry later.

I have waited several hours and we have less than 50 user in the AD.
If I start manually, the Message from webpage says: Cannot navigate to the requested page while user profile synchronization is running. Please wait for the current synchronization run to finish.
Is the profile sync so slow?

whether status of the sync service is idle or has some other message? and verify you have configured correct connections to pull out the AD list from your domain controllers. you could even use netmon utility to monitor the portal server communications with your AD server.
